What not to miss
ARLES
Since Roman times, the ancient city of Arles has been recognized as a center of cultural conversation in the south of France; its ebb and flow as a hub for transport, industry and the arts positioning it as a veritable jewel in the crown in Provence. During its Gothic Revival heyday, holidaymakers would parade up and down its Promenade des Alyscamps, a tree-lined Roman necropolis where both Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin came to paint.
LES SAINTES MARIES DE LA MER
The Camargue capital, les Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer is on the way to nowhere, which partly explains its appeal: the small town feels far more relaxed and unpretentious than many other resorts on the Mediterranean with its white desert sandy beaches, pink flamingos, white horses and black bulls all year round.
NIMES
Nîmes, capital of the department of the Gard, offers you all that and more. The city of Nîmes prides itself on a glorious past that goes back to the 6th century BC. During its more than two thousand years the city has forged a rich and diverse cultural and architectural heritage.
BAUX DE PROVENCE
The village of the Baux de Provence is situated in the heart of the Alpilles son a rocky plateau 245m high. A brilliant view of Arles, the Camargue and the Alpilles can be seen from the look-out points! The village is officially classified and labelled as “one of the most beautiful villages in France”.
